How To Make An Origami Rose

Making a small origami rose can be a little challenging. But when it’s done it looks so beautiful it’s worth putting out the effort. If you follow the steps listed below you will be able to make an origami rose in just a few minutes.

1. You’ll need two 30 centimeters long and 1 centimeter wide paper strips and a glue stick.

2. Begin by holding the strips of paper back to back.

3. Fold the right top corner down.

4. Next, fold the strip up.

5. Turn it over.

6. Bend the strip back and fold the tip of the triangle with it. Continue to fold the strip back and turn over and over.

7. Pinch the handle when you are working with the beginning of the rise.

8. Fold it back.

9. Roll it.

10. Fold back again.

11. Roll it. Do this a few more times until you have folded and rolled about half the strip of paper.

12. Glue the second strip of paper to the first one.

14. Turn it upside down placing your thumb on the top of the rose and using your index finger to hold the bottom. This will keep help to keep the rose from unraveling as you continue to fold and roll the second half of the strip of paper.

15. As you hold it with the thumb and index finger of one hand, use your other thumb to continue to fold it back.

16. Pinch the part of the rose you’ve completed so far and continue to roll the rest.

17. Make sure the petals remain spread apart. Don’t let them roll on top of each other. This will make it look much better.

18. When you get to the end of the strip of paper, fold it back and tuck it into the bottom of the rose.

19. Turn it over so you can see where to tuck the end of the strip. Use some glue to hold it in place. This will keep it from unraveling. Leave a tiny piece free to give you something to hold on to.

20. Hold it in place for a few seconds to let it dry.

21. Make sure the lower part is tucked in and the glue is holding it in place properly.

22. Make sure the piece at the bottom is pressed firmly to the rolls of the rose. This will help keep the spiral of the rose from becoming unraveled.

23. There you have it. A tiny origami rose. You can glue it to a penny to make sure the bottom stays in place. This will also allow you to display it more easily.

While this se was made using two strips paper, some people are able to make and even smaller one using just one strip. That requires a lot more practice and very thin fingers to accomplish. If you are willing to take the time you can make a colorful bouquet of unique, tiny origami roses.
